Contribution & Authorship Policy
How scholarly credit is recorded, verified, and preserved across all YSRN research outputs.
1. Work-Based Authorship
In YSRN, authorship is never honorary, hierarchical, or commercial. Every person listed on a published research record must have made a direct, documented intellectual or physical contribution (e.g. experimental design, data acquisition, modeling, sensor calibration, analysis, or primary manuscript authorship) recorded in the project task ledger.
2. Contributor Roles & CRediT Taxonomy
- Lead Researcher / Captain: Oversees protocol execution, synthesis, and peer review.
- Data / Method Contributor: Executes measurements, calibrations, and raw data curation.
- Reviewer / Mentor: Provides critique, verification, and oversight without replacing student authorship.
3. AI Attribution & Tools
AI models cannot be listed as co-authors. When language models or computational tools assist with coding, literature queries, or drafting, their role must be explicitly disclosed in the methods section alongside independent human verification steps.
